GLOW CHEMICAL PEEL

In the Glow Peel, you’ll get a resurfacing treatment that uses a 7% salicylic acid concentration, a 7% lactic acid concentration, a 7% resorcinol concentration, soy amino acids, and yeast-derived oligopeptides formulated to address the signs of aging and hyperpigmentation. A chemical solution such as salicylic acid is applied to the area being treated with a cotton ball, gauze, or brush during a light peel. Whitening of the skin may occur, as well as a slight stinging sensation. Following completion of the chemical solution, it will be removed or neutralized. It has been proven that chemical peels reduce wrinkles, brighten the skin tone and rejuvenate the appearance of the skin.

PROCEDURE TIME

It takes 30 minutes.

DURATION OF ACTION

Once or twice a year, and usually require up to 10 days of downtime when peeling is visible. The results will be apparent immediately. You should continue to see improvement for 30-60 days if you avoid sun exposure.

RISK & COMPLICATIONS

Glow peels, such as 15 percent salicylic or 25 percent mandelic acid, will cause few to no side effects. It is normal to have a little redness after peeling, but it should subside in a few hours. Peeling may last for two to three days. Normally, only light peels last for a couple of days.

BACK TO NORMAL

Your skin's color may not return to normal for several months after the peel.

ON SET OF RESULTS

The results are usually achieved after several sessions. Patients are surprised by how much better their skin looks after their first chemical peel after receiving multiple treatments over several months.

ANAESTHETIC

No anesthetics are required.

PROCEDURE

  • It can be done as an outpatient procedure in either a doctor’s office or a surgery center. An agent that removes excess oils from your skin will thoroughly clean your skin, while your eyes, hair, and face will be protected.
  • The skin is then treated with a chemical solution. Glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid, salicylic acid, lactic acid, and carbolic acid (phenol) are usually the chemicals used.
  • A controlled injury is caused by the different chemical types penetrating through different layers of skin, then peeling away to reveal new layers beneath.
  • Your skin is treated with a chemical peel. The sensation may be mildly hot for a few minutes. There is then stinging. A cool compress may relieve the sting. Once the chemical is washed off or neutralized, there is no more stinging.

Frequently Asked Questions

Glow Chemical Peel Your Questions Answered

Peeling chemicals improve skin texture, firmness, and reduce wrinkles. Peels also reduce pore size and even out skin tone.

The depth of penetration of the ingredients used determines the type of chemical peel. Different layers of the epidermis are exfoliated by superficial peels. Medium depth peels address the reticular dermis and deep peels the papillary dermis. The composition, concentration and pH of a chemical peel determine its strength.

Ingredients commonly used in peeling include trichloroacetic acid (TCA), alpha hydroxy acids, bihydroxy acids, and retinol. Amounts of sugar cane glycolic acid, lactic acid, malic acid, tartaric acid, and mandelic acid, that originate from fruit, are among the alpha hydroxy acids. Beta hydroxy acids are only present in salicylic acid (associated with aspirin).
